PoolAndSpa.com Hurricane Michael Special Weather Statement – PoolAndSpa.com continues to monitor Hurricane Michael, and we are beginning preparations to minimize service disruptions to our customers should this storm affect our operations.
Our main offices and operations center are located in the Northwestern area of the Florida Panhandle near the Pensacola Metro area. Michael is forecasted to strengthen to a Category 2 or 3 hurricane and potentially impact our operations in Florida, which could have a domino effect for our other offices and shipping locations throughout the country. The exact track may change but we are closely monitoring this developing storm over the next few days.
We plan to operate as normal, unless we are ordered to evacuate our various locations, and/or if we feel that it is in the best interest of our employees to seek safety elsewhere. This storm is not similar to the other hurricanes that have been occurring throughout the southeast, because our facilities were never expected to be in the direct path of the other storms. Michael, on the other hand, is expected to affect our local area to some extent.
All PoolAndSpa.com online orders will continue to be processed during any possible storm event, as our main computer data center is located in Chicago, IL. However our Customer Service Support services, both through phone and through email, may be impacted, depending on the severity of the storm. Some shipping warehouses may have to be shut down in our southeast facilities depending on the exact path of the storm as it travels northeast and inland – while our west coast facilities will see no impact.
The forecast path shows Pensacola on the west side of the center’s warning cone, which stretches from the Florida / Alabama border to central Georgia. The threat of direct impacts from wind, storm surge, and heavy rainfall is increasing in the Florida Panhandle. Pensacola will likely be on the western side of Michael when it makes landfall.
In the event of a power outage or damage to our cable lines, high speed data, and phone service may be interrupted. Immediately following the storm, we will have resources that will assess all of our communication systems and begin work to restore all services and operations as quickly as possible.
