He trains and consults with numerous athletes and sports teams from professional sports, collegiate and high school teams, along with fitness and healthcare institutions.

Rick is a sought after Master Instructor in the Burdenko Method, a specialized form of dynamic aquatic and land-based techniques. Rick lectures nationally and internationally throughout the year teaching the benefits of Aquatic Therapy and Fitness and Sports Performance to health clubs, athletic institutions and health care practices. Rick is an adjunct faculty member at both The University of New Hampshire in the Department of Kinesiology and Franklin Pierce University in the Doctoral of Physical Therapy program.

WHAT do I do?
I train clients to maximize the power and potential of water. Water has the unfair reputation of only being used only for its supportive properties. It is also viewed as just land-based training performed in the water. However, by maximizing the 3-dimensional resistive properties of water and having a good understanding of kinesiology, biomechanics and neurophysiology, a dynamic, functional training environment is created. Rick McAvoy Aquatics extensive work has reached global standards by breaking boundaries in Australia, New Zealand, China, Canada, UK and the United States.

WHAT does this mean for you?
We will work together to develop the best program for you so that you can improve your overall function, fitness, performance and quality of life. I will help to educate and empower you to maximize your potential in the water. We will discuss how your specially designed aquatic program will help bridge the gap between water and land based functioning.

WHY should you work with me?
My 25-plus years of experience in Aquatics working with patients and professional athletes has allowed me to develop a unique training approach to aquatic therapy, fitness and performance. For over a decade I have worked in the swim spa industry to help bring functional aquatic training to the swim spa market.

If you want accelerated results and are looking for better movement, sit down and let’s chat for a while. Swim Spa Exercise is an outside-the-box, in-the-water solution to health, fitness and performance. You will leave the H20 feeling significantly better than when you get in. If more people realized the potential of water, then we would have a health revolution. There would be less injury and illness. Water is the great equalizer – the harder you push the harder it pushes you back. It does not matter what your age or fitness level is. Water does not discriminate.
