2021 Celebrity Pools That Might Surprise You! – In past years, we have presented our annual list of “The Best Celebrity Pools” of that year. This year we actually had a difficult time finding a lot of really spectacular Celebrity Pools. Many of the mega priced houses that were recently bought or sold were quite grand, but some of their pools were not as wonderful as you might expect.
As a matter of fact, a number of the pools were fairly plain looking – or had some design choices that seemed a bit odd. So this year we are presenting 20 Celebrity Pools found on MLS, Zillow and American Luxury which show that unlimited money does not always equal good taste, or good designs. A lot of them are pretty nice for sure! But some of them leave you with the feeling of just “meh…”.
That being said, for most people, any pool is better than no pool at all. And since a lot of these homes are recently bought or sold by celebrities, there is no telling what types of renovations they may be planning in the future to update them. We will have to check back next year to see what they did.
But for now, here are the 20 Celebrity Pools for 2021 for you to enjoy!
John Foley (Peloton Founder / CEO) – $55M Home. This guy has a lot of money. Actually billions of dollars. The house is in the Hampton’s (Long Island, NY), so that explains most of its’ price tag, but he should probably have his pool redesigned for 2022. A straight-up 20×40 rectangle pool is great for most backyards, but for this estate, he should dip into his billions and make a spectacular pool worthy of his Hampton’s neighbors.
Billionaire Ken Howery (And Elon Musk) – $12M Home. This Texas home is actually Ken’s, but buddy Elon is purported to be staying there recently. The house is pleasant and the pool is so-so. But either way, they might want to drop some pocket change into making this fairly Plain-Jane pool more elaborate. If you have your own rocket ship, you might want a better pool, no?
Alex Rodriguez – $6.3M Home. Oh come on Alex, WTF? First clean off your roof, then renovate that $16K pool. In all fairness, the house is up for sale as-is, so hopefully he’ll get a better house and pool soon!
Leonardo DiCaprio – $9.9M Home. So this house is in Beverly Hills, which explains the hefty price tag. And he is planning to renovate the entire 1936 build. Hopefully he has a big budget to have the pool updated too. Also hopefully he will hire a landscaper to trim all those unkempt bushes too. Good luck Leo!
Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) – $14M Home. This is one of our favorites. Flea is a great musician, this house is mint and the pool is first class luxury. A+ for Mr. Flea for sure!
Adam Levine – $28.5M Home. This is a very nice, stately swimming pool. Nothing really more to be said. Great design, excellent landscaping, elegant setting. But he recently flipped the house and has moved on. So maybe the pool design just wasn’t his “cup of tea”!
Duane Hagadone (Newsman and Resort Developer ) – $49.5M Home. Sadly Duane recently passed, so his family is selling his beloved Palm Desert home. Look at that pool! What a spectacular negative edge, curved wall pool with a view to die for. No renovations needed for the lucky buyer of this luxury estate!
Jim Belushi – $30M Home. Jim just recently sold his Los Angeles estate. Although the pool is fairly straight forward in design, it does fit nicely within the mansion’s grounds and accents the Mediterranean feel of the property. It may not be that modern look some people are looking for nowadays, but it is an A+ classy job that fits this backyard perfectly.
Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond Star) – $5M Home. You know what? We kinda like this whole backyard set-up. The pool / spa combo is not very elaborate, but it’s “EL” shape really accents the whole design of the house and the pool house layout. Very nice job overall!
Tyra Banks – $7.9M Home. OK, this is excellent. Great house, superior backyard design and simple yet elegant negative edge pool. No complaints here for Tyra. A+ job.
Justise Winslow (L.A. Clippers) – $6M Home. This home compound is pretty cool. The pool is kind of plain in design though. We guess Justise agrees because he just listed it for sale. Maybe the new owners will spruce up the pool a bit!
Austin Russell (World’s Youngest Self-Made Billionaire) – $83M Home. Not much to say here. Young billionaire just bought this excellent house with excellent pool. Totally excellent. Enjoy it young man!
Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley Star) – $4.5M Home. So this Hollywood Hills house is nice, but has very limited backyard space. We could live without the vines on the walls, but other than that, the small yet classic style pool fits in well. Not too much extra room to do any additional pool renovations in the space. Maybe his next house will be bigger.
Kirk Douglas – $7.5M Home. This historic Beverly Hills pool is in the backyard of screen icon Kirk Douglas, and the home was recently put up for sale. Built in 1921, a backyard pool was a rarity, even in Hollywood. The new buyers will have to decide whether to leave the historic pool as is, or rip the whole yard apart and build a new modern one. Tough decision. Only time will tell.
Stevie Wonder – $13.9M Home. This Bel Air Mansion is a multi-level masterpiece. This is just one shot of the pool area. The tri-level pool with hot tub fits perfectly into the curves of the backyard lot and landscaping. Nothing need be done nor updated on this one. A+ class act for sure!
Richard Gere – $65M Home. So this is another Hampton estate (Long Island, NY), which explains the price tag here. This area has some of the richest of the rich living throughout. That being said, this pool just has to go. It is a plane-Jane 20×40 with 4×8 end steps pool (which is a common style in the Hampton’s). But with that much backyard space in this particular yard, and that kind of money, there should definitely be some major renovation done on this one. Sorry Richard!
Celine Dion – $72M Home. What a nice house. What a nice pool. What a great talent. The pool is so big it acts like a mini-lake that the various buildings are built around. A+ design. Classy and elegant – just like Celine!
Dolph Lundgren – $3.7M Home. Much like many Hollywood Hills homes, the lots are very small and space is at a premium. So what do you do when you want to swim or soak? You build a 50 foot long, bi-level lap pool full of jets that you can use to swim or soak in like a hot tub. Great use of the side yard on this one for sure! Not overly fancy, but a perfect design for limited space.
Nas (Musician) – $3.5M Home. He actually bought this Calabasas home recently at an auction. It came with this terrific backyard resort style pool too! What a bargain. We would not touch a thing here. Great desert setting and view. Free-form shaped pool, built-in grotto and waterfall, mint stone decking all around the pool area. A+++ for Nas on this masterpiece!
NeNe Leakes (Real Housewives) – $3.5M Home. This is one nice yard! We love the dual level hot tub and pool. The waterspouts are cool and so are the color changing underwater lights. The stone decking goes very well with the house colors as well. Sadly NeNe hates it and it’s currently up on the market for sale. You know many of those “Real Housewives” women are very particular. But for the right buyer, this is one gem of a property as it is.
